Spotlight Saturday: January
|Spotlight Saturday’s here again, with a quick review of our most interesting or popular auctions from the past month – and maybe a peek or two at some upcoming auctions that might pique your interest! The first month of 2017 has been flying by like nobody’s business, and we’ve had more than our fair share of interesting auctions. Did you see any of them? Did you take a shot at bidding on any of them? Maybe, perhaps, you won them? Take the time to look at our past Spotlight Saturdays if you missed them! And then let’s take a look at some of our top auctions for the past month, as decided by public interest:
Any vintage soda memorabilia lovers on the site? We had a vending machine that would’ve made your day. We ended up with a vintage Cornelius Co. Dr. Pepper vending machine – complete with 70s-era wood design and slot for your 75 cents. The auction has since closed, but this holdover from the golden age of soda pop sold for $43 – not bad, all things considered. We know soda memorabilia collectors are out there – so keep your eyes peeled and don’t miss your chance next time.
Big on old books? We have an interesting little vintage piece currently up for auction on the main site – a notebook from the 1930s, with notes from a Boston University class. The auction is live right this Saturday, and will stay live for another day or so. If you’re looking for the right kind of vintage book, this might be right up your alley! Either way, it’s at least worth taking a closer look.
Maybe not so much a ‘popular’ auction as it is an ‘interesting’ one, we have the peculiar Satan necklace that was featured just last week. It wasn’t made out of any precious metals or desirable stones, and to be completely honest, if you look at Satan’s face closely enough, it didn’t look particularly well-crafted either. But, to be fair, we don’t get a lot of Satan jewelry. Plenty of crosses, and more necklaces and pendants of Jesus than we could ever take the time to count (have you ever seen a 24kt gold Jesus with diamond eyes? We have). But, y’know…not a lot of Satanic pieces. Maybe there are some better looking, high-end ones out there. Not this one.
So what’s on the horizon for the rest of this month, and the beginning of next month? A couple musical instruments, some pretty rings….and maybe a little something special. We don’t want to give too much away too soon. Stick around and you’ll see! It’s been a great month so far. Until next time – good luck, and happy bidding! Enjoy your Saturday!
