Top DSLR Camera Choices

Big on photography? Have you been doing it for a good bit and you’re looking for a chance to bring your skills to the next level? If so, you’re probably in the market for a DSLR. Shorthand for ‘digital single lens reflex,’ the DSLR camera is the next step up for people who are looking for something a little more advanced and customizable than your everyday point-and-shoot, or cell phone camera.

Here are some of our picks for best DSLR:

Nikon D850

For all photographers looking for the cream of the crop in terms of DSLRs, everyone pretty much agrees that the Nikon D850 is everything you could possibly want. Decidedly pricey, but the Nikon D850 is worth it in every aspect. The 45.4MP sensor delivers detailed images, while the 153-point AF system is the same as in Nikon’s forerunner D5. There’s no doubt about it – in the Nikon D850, you’ve got a camera that far outranks all others in its class.

Canon EOS 80D

If you’re unfamiliar with it, the EOS 80D is Canon’s higher end DSLR. The camera’s handles very well, promoting all sorts of creative shooting opportunities as well as making adjustment setting a breeze. The EOS 80D is a fabulous enthusiast DSLR that packs a decent performance.

Canon EOS 5D Mark IV

Canon’s EOS 5D series of cameras has produced many strong DSLR models – the original EOS 5D made full-frame photography more accessible to the general public, the Mark II brought Full HD video capture to DSLRs for the very first time, and the EOS 5D Mark IV builds on (and improves) everything that came before. Complete with a new 30.4MP sensor and advanced 61-point AF system, the EOS 5d Mark IV is a brilliant DSLR.

Nikon D500

The Nikon D500 is what happens when Nikon takes the forerunner D5 DSLR and distills it into a smaller body. The full-frame sensor is replaced by an 20.9MP APS-C sized chip that allows the D500 to shoot at a rapid 10fps. A wonderful, well- rounded DSLR with a brilliant 153-point AF system means it will perform well in sports photography, but still has everything it needs for portrait and landscape photography.
