38 Years of Star Wars

Star Wars is an epic space opera franchise centered on a film series created by George Lucas.

The film series depicts a galaxy described as “far, far away” in the distant past, and commonly portrays Jedi as a representation of good, in conflict with the Sith, their evil counterpart.

In 1977, the first film in the series was released and became a worldwide pop culture phenomenon, followed by two sequels that are released at three-year intervals. 16 years after the release of the trilogy’s final film, a new prequel trilogy of films was released (which were also released at three-year intervals, with the final film of the trilogy released on 2005).

And another 10 years after the prequel trilogy, another trilogy of the franchise will be born. Trailer for the first film has been recently released. (If you haven’t watched it yet, you may get a glimpse below!)

For a total of 38 years now, the force has been strong with the Star Wars franchise, encompassing both worlds of science fiction and pop culture. Through this very long time period, it spawned an extensive media franchise called the Expanded Universe — including books, television series, comic books, computer and video games and a vast collection of merchandising items (which are now highly collectible!).

Here’s one collectible you can get a hold of right now: 1999 Star Wars PEZ Hander featuring Jar Jar Binks in Mos Espa Scene

Additional bonus: It’s a PEZ! One of the most beloved candies in the world — over 3 billion candy bricks are consumed each year in the U.S. alone! But we highly recommend NOT TO EAT the candies included in the Star Wars Collectible.
