Fun fact: Idaho was one of the last areas in the U.S. that was explored by the Europeans. The Idaho statehood as part of the U.S. was signed by former President Benjamin Harrison on July 3, 1890, the population of Idaho at that time was 88, 548. George Shoup became the first state governor of Idaho but then he resigned after a few weeks in the office to assume a seat in the U.S. Senate. In 1931, Mountain Bluebird was declared as the official state bird of Idaho.
